James is what has been politely termed a High Needs Baby. He doesn't sleep for more than an hour at a time. Ever. He nurses every two hours and shows little interest in solid food. When he is awake, he wants to be held. Since I have another young child, a home to take care of, a husband to love, and only two hands, I don't have the luxury of meeting each of James' needs exactly at the moment he expresses it. So our little Mister spends more time crying each day than anyone in our household would like.

I've been to the National March for Life in Washington, DC many times over the last several years. Each year, tens of thousands of people gather on the National Mall, many of them carrying signs with catchy pro-life slogans. This year I saw a new sign. I'm guessing people have carried this sign in past years, but I had never noticed it. The sign read: "Women DO Regret Abortion." What struck me, however, was when I saw several women carrying a similar sign that read: "I Regret My Abortion." "Wow," I thought. "That takes courage."

I love being at home. There isn't any place I'd rather be - except some days, I'd rather be almost anywhere else. One morning recently my upwardly mobile children were unattended and roaming the house. I could hear the blaring TV, one child dragging toys down the steps to comfort her as she vegged on "wholesome" programming, and another rummaging through the pantry looking for low laying snacks. The baby, tucked away in his crib, was babbling. Postponing the inevitable, I was still in bed. Hiding.
