Inspiring Women

Phases of Womanhood highlights women who meet the challenges in their own lives in ways that will inspire or encourage others. Not perfect, but striving to be the woman God wants her to be, she is an “ordinary hero” whose faith touches others in very concrete ways.  Meet our Inspiring Women!

Most expectant parents look forward eagerly to the birth of their new baby. Pregnancy is a time of joyful anticipation, a time to plan and dream. For some parents however those nine months of pregnancy are the only ones they will have to share with their precious child. Yet all too often, when a doctor delivers the devastating news that a baby suffers from a condition which will lead to death shortly after birth, he also councils the parents to seek an immediate abortion.
When I was eighteen, I found out I was pregnant. My boyfriend said he would kick me out of our apartment if I did not have an abortion, and my employer agreed that this was the only logical option. She even offered to make the arrangements.
For me God doesn’t show flood lights, Sister Dede says.
